Dermatology

This course offers an in-depth examination of finasteride, a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor commonly used to treat androgenetic alopecia and benign prostatic hyperplasia. It begins with a review of its pharmacological action and clinical applications, followed by a thorough analysis of its side effect profile. Particular attention is given to sexual dysfunction, mood changes, physical symptoms such as gynecomastia, and the emerging clinical entity known as post-finasteride syndrome.

In this course, you will explore available scientific evidence, patient-reported outcomes, and proposed mechanisms behind these adverse events. The course also addresses the challenges of risk-benefit communication, patient selection, and long-term monitoring. Designed for healthcare professionals, it emphasizes a personalized approach to prescribing, allowing for more informed clinical decisions and better patient care.
