The oral route of administration for drugs is the most commonly used and perhaps the most convenient. However, commercial oral solid medications are not suitable for all patient groups.

In this course, hospital pharmacist Dr. Eli Dijkers will illustrate the challenges with oral medication of a number of patient groups, including those in need of dose adjustments, patients allergic or intolerant to commonly used excipients, those on an enteral feeding tube or those suffering from severe dysphagia.

Additionally, Fagron products including SyrSpend® SF, SyrSpend® SF PH4 NEO and MediSpend™ MD will be introduced as effective tools in the personalization of oral and nasogastric suspensions.
